A corporate team building program is priceless
It does not take tons of time or money to develop a corporate team building program
All sorts of groups work on team building and use team building programs and techniques.
Sports teams are a big portion of those that use these types of strategies however we cannot forget about the originators of the team building which are the large and small corporations of the world.
The first organized attempt to build a cohesive unit was part of a corporate team building program.
In the beginning
Since the original attempt there have been an infinite amount of programs put on the market to cater to all groups large and small and of every different style and purpose but they are still all based off of the original model that was developed for the business world. I think that the reason the corporate team building program has worked as a model for so long is that it is just that good.
What is the benefit
You may ask yourself why a company who sits at desks all day would want to invest so much in a team building program since most of the team do not really come into contact on a daily business. The truth is that the original corporate team building program was made for that very reason. Since the workers are not always accessible to each other the jobs they do and the results they create must be correct so that the next person in the chain can base their work on it. If the work is full of errors and prevents the next person from performing their task the whole process fails.
The corporate team building program that I was part of and help develop further was mainly based on role laying. We used role playing for a couple of reasons. The first reason was to identify faults in the person / job relationship. The other reason was to identify what job is best suited for which person for the purpose of promotions or transfers.
When I first arrived at that company I was interested in how their corporate
team building program was setup. I had the opportunity to go to seminars and
identify flaws in the program and be part of the team that corrected it. The
way the company found out that I would be suited to do such a thing was based
off of the team building workshop we
did my first week at the company. From there it is all history.

If you are not with a company that has a team building program you will need to get up and create one. Ask to be sent to seminars and take place in brainstorm sessions. The lack of team cohesiveness will be the downfalls of the company so do not wait until it is too late. Build a better team and build your company better.
